Leigh managed the team at Metaphor, working with Rick Mather architects to deliver the 39 new galleries for the Ashmolean extension. Leigh specialised in the design and manufacture of the £7 contract for new showcases with Meyvaert, Ghent. Simple and strong colours were chosen to differentiate the galleries, and were in contrast to the existing muted galleries. The main theme was ‘Crossing Cultures, Crossing Time’. Three orientation galleries allow the exchange of ideas and development of technology.

These images show the completed museum, and also Leigh’s design for the Randolph Gallery where prototypes of cases and display methods were exhibited for a six-month trial prior to opening, using real objects from the collection.
