Leigh designed the 3d for this exhibition celebrating the iconic actor’s eightieth birthday. Three sections dealt with his different contribution to film; as a London icon, rebel and actor. Photographs by Terry O’Neill and David Bailey and film and audio footage from The Italian Job, Alfie, Get Carter and Educating Rita made this an entertaining and endearing exhibition.

Leigh used a small palette of bold colours – red, black and white, to represent the strength of the characters he plays. Sir Michael was given the key to the city at a special award ceremony at the museum.

I think the Museum is great for London, and I am so proud to be included.
Sir Michael Caine

Sir Michael said he was ‘proud’ of the exhibition.
